Our cryogenic pipelines are subsea or buried. There is no need for a jetty or trestle structure. This has the advantage of:
› Improving seismic response
› Protecting the cryogenic piping system from external damage
› Facilitating terminal location: eliminating dredging, out of tsunami zones, in congested ports areas, near the public or in tourist locations
› Reducing impact on our communities, on shipping and on the environment
› Reduced pressure drop since no expansion loops means no associated bends and less pipe length
› Reducing CAPEX
In addition to its architectural advantages, the Cryogenic PIP offers excellent thermal insulation with no field-joint effect, thus reducing boil-off gas generation.
Our cryogenic technology allows for continuous pipeline integrity monitoring based on the closed annulus volume pressure monitoring, resulting in leak detection orders of magnitude more sensitive than traditional mass balance systems.
The double envelope corresponds to the double-hulled carriers and full containment tanks, which are standard in the LNG industry. This cryogenic piping design provides both additional protection from external damage and containment from potential leaks.
Our insulated cryogenic pipeline systems have been qualified by DNV-GL and several operators.
The cold insulation used in our cryogenic piping systems is Izoflex LT®, which has the lowest conductivity on the market and requires no maintenance.
Why do we use Izoflex?
Only 2 inches of Izoflex insulation is typically required for LNG applications, which enables us to provide the most compact cryogenic pipeline. This results in reduced requirement for weight coating and narrower pipeline corridors. The non-ageing nature of Izoflex also means zero maintenance.
ITP has developed the pipe production using 36Ni, and the associated welding and inspection required for pipeline construction. We also have a qualified supply chain with unique experience.
Why choose 36Ni?
36Ni alloy has been used for decades in the LNG carriers, and is the perfect cryogenic material: it gets stronger as it cools and retains its ductility. What’s more, it has an expansion coefficient 10 times inferior than traditional stainless steel.
Our cryogenic pipe is applicable for the transfer of all liquid products < -60°C.
